Mexi Screwed in Award Voting
Posted by Matt Shivan on 10 Sep 2002
By all accounts, it should have been cut-and-dry in the OSW Impact Player voting. With over twice the fan votes of his nearest competitor, White Mexican seemed in line to be the August recipient of the The Business' monthly award for excellence. So why, then, did Robbie Decker hand the award to Scott Taylor at a press conference tonight?
"As everybody knows, I'm the driving force behind The Business' Impact Player Award, and as such, I reserve the right to award it to whoever I wish," Decker said via an e-mail. "Given White Mexican's comments on Slam!, incessant badgering, and general unworthiness, I decided to exercise my executive privilege and award Impact Player status to the much-more-worthy Scott Taylor."
"Of course I'm more worthy than Mexi," said Scott Taylor. "Technically, he shouldn't even have won it anyway. He gallivanted around in a spandex suit for five months and he expects ten seconds to give him the award? Pssh. I busted my ass for two months and it's about time I get some credibility. I am The Next Icon and I just proved why!"
White Mexican could not be immediately reached for comment, but sources close to him say he is "livid" about the slight. We hope to have comments from White Mexican soon and will, as usual, pass on any news to you as soon as we receive it.
